The VFFOTO magnetic ND 8× filter is designed primarily to extend the range of compatible VFFOTO VND filters. It adds another 3 EV, expanding the nominal range from VND 2–32× to ND 16–256×. With a magnetic adapter of the same diameter, it can also be used as a standalone ND 8× filter.

Extending the range

The ND 8× extends the VND 2–32× range to ND 16–256×.

When the two filters are combined, their nominal light-reduction factors are multiplied: the ND 8× and VND 2–32× together create a nominal range of ND 16–256×.

Adds just 2 mm to the filter stack height.

Optical glass just 0.7 mm thick and a low-profile 2 mm frame minimise the overall height of the filter stack and reduce the risk of mechanical vignetting.

VFFOTO in-house spectral measurement

Transmission across the entire visible spectrum.

The graph shows the measured transmission from 380 to 780 nm. Colour neutrality is indicated primarily by the consistency of the curve across the visible spectrum. Its deviation from 12.5 % also indicates the filter's actual density.

How to cover the filter stack safely.

A VFFOTO hybrid VND filter fitted with the extension ND 8× is not compatible with the original lens cap. To cover the filter stack safely, use the compatible VFFOTO 95 mm magnetic protective cap with grip.

Safe use

Neither VND nor ND 8× filters are solar filters.

Neither VND nor ND 8× photographic filters are intended or certified for safe observation or photography of the Sun, and they do not provide the required suppression of UV and IR radiation. A VND filter is not suitable for photographing a solar eclipse.
