Beyond the night sky

Sunrise and sunset colours worth capturing.

You can also use Night Sky at sunrise and sunset. The filter can enhance red and pink hues and bring out the colour and atmosphere of morning or evening landscapes. The filter itself changes the colour rendering in camera.

Combined with a polarising filter

Add a compatible VFFOTO CPL filter to reduce reflections on water, wet rocks or leaves at the same time. Night Sky affects colour rendering, while the CPL helps control reflections and colour saturation to suit the scene.

The effect depends on the light and colours in the scene. Stacking filters increases the height of the assembly; check for vignetting with wide-angle lenses.

Special didymium glass reduces transmission in a selected part of the light spectrum. The transmittance graph shows its effect.

Around 600 nm

Less unwanted yellow-orange light.
The highlighted dip shows the part of the spectrum where the filter significantly reduces transmission. This helps suppress the unwanted colour cast in night scenes in camera.

More natural colours

Suppresses the unwanted yellow-orange cast and helps produce more natural colours in night scenes.

The effect depends on the type and intensity of ambient lighting. The filter does not remove all light pollution and is no substitute for a dark location.

For the widest views, screw the filter directly into the lens thread. Magnetic mounting adds height to the assembly.

General guidance for full-frame cameras with a single filter. Vignetting depends on the lens and the complete assembly. Check the corners of the image at the shortest focal length, especially when stacking filters.

In the field

Three steps to better night photography

  1. A tripod and precise focusing

    Use a tripod for longer exposures. Check your focus on the stars using a magnified view.

  2. Check the exposure

    After fitting the filter, check the histogram and adjust the shutter speed or ISO as needed. When photographing stars, watch for star trails.

  3. Shoot in RAW

    RAW gives you flexibility to fine-tune exposure and white balance to suit the night scene.

All you need is the filter

Screw the Night Sky filter directly into the lens’s filter thread: 77 mm. No adapter is needed for this mounting option.

For magnetic mounting, add a VFFOTO 77 mm hybrid filter adapter. If you already have a compatible adapter, you do not need another one.

Protecting the mounted filter

Magnetic cap with grip

Cover the front of the filter with a VFFOTO 77 mm magnetic cap with grip. Your original lens cap is not compatible.

You can also attach other VFFOTO magnetic and hybrid filters of the same diameter to the filter’s magnetic front. For a lens with a smaller filter thread, use a suitable step-up ring with a 77 mm filter-side diameter and check the complete setup for vignetting.

Lens hoods: what to check first

The outer diameter of the hybrid frame may make it difficult to fit or remove a close-fitting original lens hood. Check your particular lens, filter and hood combination. Screwing the filter into the lens does not reduce its outer diameter.

Filter repair at 50% of the price of a new filter.

Dropping your camera does not have to mean the end of your filter. If a circular VFFOTO filter is dropped or otherwise accidentally damaged, eligible Club members can have it repaired for 50% of the current price of a new filter of the same model.

VFFOTO Club – Rules and Terms

End customers may use this benefit for up to two filters per calendar year. It applies to filters purchased under standard terms directly from VFFOTO or its official partners. It excludes promotional purchases, flat all-glass filters for holders, normal wear and tear, and damage caused by improper cleaning or careless fitting and removal. Any shipping costs are charged separately.

Ochranné nano vrstvy jsou nanášeny na optické sklo pomocí vakuových technologií, jako je vakuové napařování (PVD) a iontové naprašování. Řízený proces umožňuje vytvořit tenkou a rovnoměrnou povrchovou úpravu.

NanoShield je navržen s důrazem na slučitelnost s optickou funkcí filtru. Cílem je snadnější údržba při zachování požadované ostrosti, barevného podání a světelné propustnosti.

Ochranná úprava zároveň přispívá k odolnosti povrchu proti drobnému poškrábání a běžnému opotřebení. Její přínos oceníte při časté manipulaci s filtry i při fotografování v proměnlivých podmínkách.

Čištění v praxi: Před otíráním nejprve odstraňte volný prach a písek ofukovacím balónkem. Poté použijte čistou utěrku na optiku a podle potřeby vhodný čisticí prostředek. Nano vrstvy usnadňují údržbu, neznamenají však úplnou odolnost proti poškrábání.

Vrstvy, které spolupracují

Antireflexní vrstvy jsou nanášeny na optické sklo ve vakuových komorách pomocí magnetronového naprašování. Tento proces umožňuje přesně řídit složení, tloušťku a rovnoměrnost jednotlivých vrstev.

Jejich kombinace je navržena tak, aby díky optické interferenci snižovala odrazivost povrchů v různých částech viditelného spektra. Rozhodující je přesnost celého systému, nikoli pouze počet vrstev.

Protisvětlo a noční scény

Čistší obraz v náročném světle

Slunce v blízkosti záběru, pouliční osvětlení nebo jiné výrazné světelné zdroje mohou vyvolávat odlesky a světelný závoj. GlareShield Pro 16 omezuje příspěvek povrchů filtru k těmto nežádoucím jevům.

Výsledkem je menší riziko rušivých reflexů a ztráty kontrastu. Technologie tak pomáhá zachovat přirozenou kresbu a čitelnost jemných detailů při fotografování krajiny, architektury i natáčení videa.

Odlesky v praxi: Antireflexní vrstvy omezují odrazy na površích filtru. Jejich výsledný výskyt závisí také na objektivu, poloze světelného zdroje, čistotě skla a případném použití více filtrů současně.

Ostření v praxi: Možnosti a rychlost ostření závisejí také na fotoaparátu, objektivu, typu filtru a podmínkách fotografování. U silných ND filtrů doporučujeme zaostřit před jejich nasazením a následně přepnout na ruční ostření, aby se rovina zaostření při expozici nezměnila.
